FLL Overview

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) is a robotics competition program for students aged 9−14 (in the US and Canada) , aged 9−16 (outside the US and Canada). It provides young people with excellent opportunities to stretch their minds and explore various aspects of mechatronics and programming, as well as increase adjunct skills (teamwork, collaboration, public speaking, research, problem-solving, and more). As with all FIRST programs, it’s also FUN! For details on FLL, as well as Junior FIRST LEGO League (JrFLL®) for ages 6−9, visit usfirst.org.

WESTA currently sponsors two FLL teams that operate within the Eanes Independent School District (Austin, Travis County, Texas). One WESTA-sponsored FLL team, FIRST Team 11831, Hill Country Hedgehogs, qualified to compete at the 2015 FLL World Festival in St. Louis, MO, where the team received the 2nd place award in Project-Research. It’s a huge accomplishment to make it all the way to the World Festival, much less receive an award at this level. We’re very proud of the team.

WESTA is open to provision of 501c3 support of other FLL teams, as well as Junior FIRST LEGO League (JrFLL®) teams, within its service area. Send inquiries to info@westaaustin.org.
