The WESTA-sponsored FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC®) program at Westlake High School (Austin, Travis County, Texas) is provided for students in grades 9−10. Established as the school’s ‘junior varsity’ robotics, students moving from this program into Westlake’s ‘varsity’ FRC® team. As of the 2014-2015 competition season, this program has increased from four teams to six, including one all-girl team. The program maintains its own website at http://westlakeftc.weebly.com.
WESTA fully funds this program from donations from parents, local industry, and grant awards. Westlake High and the Eanes ISD provide the team with use of the school’s robotics shop and meeting/work space.
