Mission Statement

Westlake & Eanes Science & Technology Association (WESTA) is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, including the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code, as amended, or corresponding sections of any future tax code and implementing rules in the United States Internal Revenue Service.

The primary purpose of WESTA is educating and inspiring young people to achieve through involvement in and support of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs and activities, including, but not limited to, STEM-focused competition within its service area (the community within the boundaries of the Eanes Independent School District, including the schools that make up that district.

WESTA’s current primary objective is the support of robotics programs and their related activities, which it believes provide a nexus for learning and inspiration in both STEM disciplines and essential, adjunct skills, including written and verbal communication and collaborative skills. The term support includes education, sponsor contacts, funding assistance for the robotics programs and their activities in designing and building robotic devices and participating in academic competitions, and coordinating adult support.
