Those of you who knew Linda recognize that her substantial intellect, passion and energy were laser focused on things related to FIRST Robotics. Her love for the students is clearly reflected in the compelling essay FRC2468 wrote as her nomination for the Woodie Flowers Award.
Eight years ago, her vision for a program about “more than robots” led her to establish WESTA, a non-profit to “provide a nexus for learning and inspiration in both STEM disciplines and essential, adjunct skills, including written and verbal communication and collaborative skills” – best said in her own words.
Upon hearing of her passing, many people have asked what they can do to recognize the gifts this remarkable woman left them. After talking with her students, friends and family, we have determined that the best way to honor Linda is to provide a separate fund within WESTA, called “Legacy Of Linda”. These funds will be used to further the charter of WESTA in providing a Linda McMahon memorial scholarship and additional financial support to new or struggling robotics programs. Please join us in memorializing the legacy that Linda started by clicking HERE to be directed to the donations page. Share your gift with others through #LegacyOfLinda on all social media platforms.
