WHAT IS WESTA?
Westlake and Eanes Science and Technology Association (WESTA) is a non profit 501(c) organization founded by Linda McMahon in 2011 to support STEM education in the Eanes and Westlake community. WESTA is a volunteer organization and over 95% of funds raised go directly to support Westlake robotic programs. Our Tax ID number is 27-3502055 .
WHAT IS WESTA’S MISSIONS STATEMENT?
WESTA’s mission statement is to support STEM learning for Eanes and Westlake students seeking to further their STEM education, with the primary focus upon hands on, project-based learning through robotics curricula including competition robotics.
HOW DOES WESTA SUPPORT WESTLAKE & EANES ROBOTICS?
Our support takes many forms, including monetary, volunteer and communication support. We raise funds for Westlake robotics programs through corporate and individual donations, sponsored Eanes Summer and STEMConnect camps, and specific fundraising events. We recruit, train, and support volunteers. We also are an important communication liaison between Eanes and the community promoting and relaying pertinent information about the various programs and volunteer opportunities.
WHO DOES WESTA SUPPORT BENEFIT?
WESTA support benefits the many Westlake & Eanes Robotics programs and related initiatives which encompass students as young as six years old with FLL Jr. all the way to Westlake High School seniors. WESTA’s support goes beyond competition robots and includes many other initiatives like SACOT, LilyPads, RoBox, and student internships.
WHY DOES WESTA NEED YOUR SUPPORT?
At WESTA, we feel hands-on STEM learning is not only fun but fills an unmet need for many students who are passionately engaged by this form of project based learning. It is no surprise that the demand for quality robotics curricula, including competition robotics, is growing rapidly. We need your support to keep pace with this growing demand.
